You Have Another Thing Coming CrankaTsuris

😤 YOU HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING CRANKATSURIS

Chapter 1: The Assumption Explosion

Meet Brenda. Brenda was a planner, a list-maker, a “just checking in” kind of person. She liked things neat, predictable, and preferably color-coded.

So when someone assumed she’d do something she never agreed to—like organize the office holiday party, or babysit her neighbor’s parrot—her CrankaTsuris would ignite like a spark in a haystack.

And when they said, “Well, I just figured you would…”
Brenda would smile, tilt her head, and say:

“Oh, you figured? Well, you’ve got another thing coming.”

Chapter 2: The Cranky Clash of Expectations

Brenda’s week was full of “figureds”:

  • Her coworker figured she’d take notes at the meeting.
  • Her sister figured she’d host Thanksgiving.
  • Her dentist figured she’d floss. (She did not.)

Each assumption added another log to the fire. And then came the final straw:

Her boss said, “I assumed you’d stay late to finish the report.”

Brenda didn’t yell. She didn’t cry. She calmly packed her bag, stood up, and said:

“I assumed I’d be home by 6. Looks like we’re both wrong.”

Chapter 3: The CrankaTsuris Confrontation

Later that night, Brenda called her Aunt Maxine, a retired lawyer and full-time boundary enforcer.

Maxine listened, then said:

“You Have Another Thing Coming CrankaTsuris is what happens when people write checks with your time that you never agreed to cash.”

Brenda sighed. “So what do I do?”

Maxine replied, “You stop being polite about it. You start being clear.”

Chapter 4: The Superpower of the Second Thing

Brenda didn’t become rude. She became direct.

She started saying:

  • “I didn’t agree to that.”
  • “That’s not something I’m available for.”
  • “If you assumed, you assumed wrong.”

And every time she did, her CrankaTsuris softened. Her time became hers again. Her calendar stopped looking like a battlefield.

Moral of the Story:
You Have Another Thing Coming CrankaTsuris is the crankiness that rises when people expect you to say yes before you’ve even been asked. But your time is yours. And sometimes, the crankiest thing you can do… is say no with confidence.

🎧 Episode 12: You Have Another Thing Coming CrankaTsuris – The Assumption Avalanche

🎵 [Intro Music: A confident jazz riff with a record scratch and a dramatic “Oh no you didn’t” sound effect]

🎙️ ZOE (Host, age 9):
Welcome back to Generations of Grumble, the podcast where crankiness isn’t just a reaction—it’s a boundary with flair. I’m Zoe, your Gen Alpha host, and today’s episode is about what happens when people assume you’ll say yes before you’ve even been asked.

🎙️ MORTY (Grandpa, 87):
Back in my day, if someone assumed you’d do something, you’d say, “You’ve got another thing coming,” and then you’d go bowling.

🎙️ DEBBIE (Mom, 58):
Dad, you once said that to a Girl Scout selling cookies.

🎙️ JAKE (Millennial, 28):
And I’m Jake, here to talk about the CrankaTsuris that flares up when people write checks with your time that you never agreed to cash. Welcome to the world of You Have Another Thing Coming CrankaTsuris.

🎙️ ZOE:
Let’s unpack the assumptions.

😤 Segment 1: The Expectation Explosion

🎙️ DEBBIE:
It starts with a sentence like, “I figured you wouldn’t mind…” or “I assumed you’d be okay with…” And suddenly, you’re hosting Thanksgiving, leading a fundraiser, and babysitting a parrot named Kevin.

🎙️ JAKE:
I once got roped into planning a coworker’s retirement party because someone “just assumed I’d be good at it.” I brought chips. That was it.

🎙️ MORTY:
I once got volunteered to drive a neighbor to the airport. I didn’t even know they were going on a trip. Or who they were.

🎙️ ZOE:
I got picked to lead the group project. I didn’t even raise my hand. I was just sitting there… blinking.

🧠 Segment 2: Why Assumptions Make Us Cranky

🎙️ JAKE:
This CrankaTsuris is about autonomy. It’s about people skipping the “ask” and jumping straight to the “expect.”

🎙️ DEBBIE:
It’s the crankiness that comes from being treated like a default setting instead of a person with a calendar and a spine.

🎙️ MORTY:
And when you finally say no, they act like you’ve committed a crime against humanity. Or worse—against brunch.

🎙️ ZOE:
It’s like being cast in a play you didn’t audition for. And the script is terrible.

📅 Segment 3: Brenda’s Boundary Breakthrough

🎙️ ZOE:
Let me tell you about Brenda. She was the queen of “Sure, I can do that.” Until one day, her boss said, “I assumed you’d stay late.”

🎙️ DEBBIE:
Brenda calmly packed her bag and said, “I assumed I’d be home by six. Looks like we’re both wrong.”

🎙️ JAKE:
She didn’t become rude. She became clear. She started saying things like, “I didn’t agree to that,” and “If you assumed, you assumed wrong.”

🎙️ MORTY:
That’s not cranky. That’s classy with a side of sass.

🧁 Segment 4: Cranky Wisdom of the Week

🎙️ DEBBIE:
You’re not obligated to fulfill someone else’s unspoken expectations.

🎙️ JAKE:
Your time is yours. And “no” is a complete sentence—even if it’s delivered with a smile.

🎙️ MORTY:
And if someone says, “I figured you would,” just say, “Well, you figured wrong.” Then go bowling.

🎙️ ZOE:
Because sometimes, the crankiest thing you can do… is not do what they assumed you would.

🎵 [Outro Music: A confident ukulele strum with a sassy “ding!”]
